Hush & Hide creates a little shelter in a world that rarely stops. Hand-knitted slowly from natural fibres, for cold mornings, wild places and the quiet in between.
The Shelter Hood was born somewhere between journeys. Cold mornings in the bush. Nights under enormous skies. The waterways of the Okavango. The stillness of the Karoo. Landscapes of contrast — hard earth and delicate light, bitter cold and unexpected stillness.
Hush & Hide grew from that contrast: wild landscape, soft shelter. Wild outside, soft within.
Light yet remarkably warm, mohair breathes naturally and carries a quiet, distinctive lustre.
The fibre comes from the Angora goat and has been part of the South African landscape since 1838.
For the Shelter Hood, we select a carefully balanced blend of kid mohair and wool, chosen for softness, warmth and gentle structure. We choose our fibre partners carefully, with attention to quality, responsible practices and materials worthy of slow making.
Each Shelter Hood is hand-knitted by skilled hands.
